Hand-Building for Beginners - 5 Week Class
Welcome to 'Hand-Building for Beginners' - a five week class!
This class will take place on Thursday evenings from 6pm - 8pm starting August 28th to September 25th at the Open Door Pottery studio on 101 W Chicago Rd in Sturgis and will be instructed by Alexia Lopez.
This class is ages 14+ and all materials are included in the cost. While this class is designed for beginners, all levels of experience are welcome!
This course will cover the fundamentals of using clay to create functional ware like mugs, plates, bowls, and more. We will cover basic hand-building techniques including pinching, coiling, and slab building, as well as basic glaze knowledge. Additionally, we will go over preparing work for bisque and glaze firings. Students will be encouraged to plan and execute their own personal projects with assistance from the instructor.
Enrolled students are encouraged to develop their skills during Open Studio with free entry during the duration of the course. Open Studio starts after Class 1 and is available on Fridays from 6pm - 9pm. No Open Studio after Class 4 as all work will be drying in preparation for a bisque fire for Class 5 (Glazing Day).
All work will be ready for pick-up at the studio one week after the last day of class.

Purchases for this class are refundable up until one week before class begins, afterwards, they are non-refundable.
